Study Habits – How much study should you do?

The following provides a guide as to the amount of homework you can be expected to complete each night.

  • Year Seven:   Up to 1 hour
  • Year Eight:    1 to 1 ½ hours
  • Year Nine:     1-2 hours
  • Year Ten:       2 hours
  • Year Eleven:  2 to 2 ½ hours
  • Year Twelve: 3 hours

Actual amount of homework will depend on a number of factors, including student course structure and the amount of work completed in class.

Homework needs to be monitored regularly and home group teachers will help with student or parent concerns.

ReadingPlus is an online program which improves fluency and silent reading, comprehension, vocabulary, and overall reading proficiency. It is a system which facilitates learning at the student’s ‘point of need’ level.

Year 9 students are required to complete a minimum of three sessions per week (generally one in class and two as homework). ReadingPlus can be accessed from the student page of the website. Other year levels also use this program at different times.
