“One of the great joys in teaching at Mount Erin College is to see students grow by taking on responsibility and following their many interests, from eager young children into articulate, self assured and productive young adults, ready to move confidently into the adult community and pursue their chosen career paths”.
High achievement is expected from all students, who are challenged and supported by a highly resourced, passionate, and skilled senior teaching team who are committed to helping students achieve excellence in the study areas they choose.
Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are also an important aspect of Senior life at Mount Erin College. Students are offered numerous school and external opportunities to build impressive resumes, and vital personal skills for succeeding in a complex and competitive environment after school.
The Year 10 program is the gateway to a stimulating and broad senior structure with a rigorous focus on thorough preparation. Many students accelerate by undertaking a VCE or VET sequence of study. Students are supported and well resourced with thorough course counselling, work experience and interaction with universities and tertiary providers. College’s Careers and Pathways Team continue working with each individual, in pathways interest groups, and as a whole year level to ensure that students have every access to make informed choices and decisions.
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is the certificate that the majority of students in Victoria receive on satisfactory completion of their secondary education. The VCE provides diverse pathways to further study or training at university or TAFE and to employment..
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
A number of students undertake a VET subject such as Business Certificate II in addition to their traditional VCE studies. In particular, students who have completed a VCE subject in Year 10, may choose to include this option.
University Enhancement Studies
Our partnerships with all of the major universities and TAFE Colleges provide our students with the opportunities for scholarships and enhancement.
Students may apply to undertake a university course subject during their Year 12 studies. Successful completion can enable early acceptance into specific university courses, and therefore reduce subject load in first year university.
Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
Our VCAL program, based on the Big Picture Model, has a personalised, pathways process, with a focus on practical “hands on” learning.
Please contact the College for further information about VCAL offerings.
