Performing and Visual Arts
Performing & Visual Arts are a feature at all year levels. From drama, music, photography and short films, to visual arts applications and external competitions.
We have an energetic and highly motivated Drama Department. Through the artistic vision of its staff and their delight in student creativity, each year students become involved in a wide range of extra curricula performance work. Some examples:
- An annual College production. Recent productions include A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Alice in Wonderland, The Wiz, and Cole Porter’s Anything Goes.
- Join the Chorus. This is a biannual State Schools Spectacular Event held at Rod Laver Arena.
- We have been part of the Monash Festival for many years, performing twenty minute plays devised by students in teams of ten. Students are always responsible for their own staging, including lighting and sound.
Talented and passionate teaching staff fuel a vibrant and energetic program and ensure that students are involved in many experiences both internal and external to the College.
In 2012, an Artists in Residence program with Artist Ruth Allen through the College has resulted a ‘glass tiles’ art piece called ‘Things That Make You Smile’ to be permanently installed at Frankston Hospital near the Children’s Ward.
MESEM (Mount Erin Student Event Management) run Peninsula Songfest each year which is a culminating event involving students from schools across the Peninsula after the annual Mount Erin Idol.
